Minutes of the Stony Creek Association
Executive Board Meeting
January 8, 2008

A meeting of the Stony Creek Association Executive Board was called to order by President Peter Brainerd at Willoughby Wallace Memorial Library at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 8, 2008.

Present: Peter Brainerd-President, Marvin Zimmerman-Vice-President, Greg Ames-Treasurer, Jake Greenvall-Tax Collector, Bob Babcock, Dottie Leachman, Ron DeFord, Dan Bullard, Sandra Fischer, Stan Fisher, David Baker, Michael Infantino, Nina Smith-Clerk.

Absent: 0

Public: 6

Minutes: Motion was made/seconded and unanimously approved to pay up to $40.00 to K&G Graphics for special meeting notices. Minutes were accepted as revised.

Treasurer’s report was accepted for audit.

Motion was made/seconded and unanimously approved to pay bills for January 1, 2008.

Tax Collector: 96% taxes have been paid. Rest of the notices will be going out.

Legal & Zoning: 1. Cut-in-two Island needs a variance to build a house on the west end of the
island.

Police & Traffic: Dan Travisano spoke to the association about:
1. Puppet House-got other town agencies involved discussing the condition
of the building and the public’s safety. Bring the building up to code.
2. Doing a traffic study in different areas. Observing the traffic flow at the
dock.
3. 30 Minute parking limit signs were installed on 1-08-08.
4. Looking at the truck traffic coming and going from the Quarry. Also,
that there are cement trucks entering the Quarry.
5. Getting together with neighbors in Branford asking about problems in
each area.
Chief DeCarlo spoke briefly about being here for the public. Working on Bicycle Officers in the summer full time, recruit officers, reactivate the auxiliary police and to reactivate the supernumerary program. Signage and crosswalks will be taken care of right away. Considering reducing the speed limit on Leetes Island Road to Guilford to 20mph.

Maintenance: 1. Sandy talked to Unk about the condition of the roads, boat ramp, Mediera Park wall. They discussed starting a Commission in Stony Creek with Unk being on the board with help from the RTM. This commission would oversee the beach and the parks. Requesting an increase in the number of port a potties or getting bigger boxes. A motion was made/seconded and unanimously approved for Stan to send out a letter with the Associations concerns about a much needed permanent facility and possibly have a second facility in the Post Office.

Old Business: Letter to Unk, copy to Fran Walsh and John Opie for securing the use of the Fire House for storage for the Association.

New Business: Peter read a letter from Theodore F. Ellis with his concerns about the changes being made to homes and buildings in our village. He made several requests for consideration by the association. 1. Monitor all changes to buildings in the Creek and applications for a variance, 2. Create a method to keep all residents apprised of zoning hearings and 3. In appropriate cases take a position in opposition to change.

Other Business: Under the circumstances, due to the ice and snow, Andy DaRos did a good job clearing the sidewalks. .

A motion was made/seconded and unanimously approved to adjourn the meeting at 8:58 P.M.
