Police & Traffic: Dan Bullard wrote a letter to Chief Robert Gill concerning the vandalism done in the Stony Creek area, on the islands and in and around the Stony Creek Dock. Letter is on file..
Maintenance: Letter was sent to Ed Masotta concerning the following: The sign at the south end of Thimble Islands Road where it intersects with Prospect Hill & Flying Point should say “No Parking This Side”, rather than “No Parking Here to Corner”. The space allowed for drop off in front of the Stony Creek Boating Association is too small. It is our recommendation that the adjoining parking space be striped over and replaced with a parking space at the end of a section in front of the commercial docks. The “15 Minute Parking” sign by the Post Office needs to be placed in front of the actual parking spaces rather than by the “No Parking” spaces. The 25 mile per hour speed limit sign as you come into Stony Creek was knocked down and is in the bushes.
Work on the drain at the post office to be done soon. Weeds have been cut down and removed at the Railroad underpass. Trees were not touched.
Recreation-Buoys have been removed and damaged ones will be replaced next year.
Alex Paluzzi-Permits are needed for sand and to remove the boulders in the water at the beach.
These items are under consideration with the First Selectman’s office:
1. Thimble Islands Sidewalks.
2. Sidewalk along waterway from Old Brainerds to Madeira Park.
3. Toilets at the Post Office and Bayview Park
4. Rocks in the water at the beach.
Dock area still needs a dumpster for trash.
The Crosswalk signs need to be removed for the winter.
Bob Babcock talked to Margaret Palmeri and the items discussed were whether Gail Ferris will continue to maintain the planting at the Post Office and that the parking area will be spruced up. Bob suggested that the best thing is to plan a meeting with Tom Covill and discuss all matters.
Stan Fisher had taken some pictures of the Essex Bathroom facility for the Board Members to review.
Administration: One bid has been received for sanding and snow removal. DaRos & Co. submitted a bid and a motion was made/ seconded and unanimously approved to accept the bid.
Old Business: Berclee is willing to set up and work on a pamphlet to Welcome Newcomers to Stony Creek. Anyone willing to work on this project see Berclee.
Requesting these items to be included in the town budget: to repair the fountain in Bayview Park, and to install bollards in the granite wall surrounding the boat ramp. This will allow the boats to have a place to tie up.
New Business: Arrangements have been made for the tree lighting.
Other Business: None
A motion was made/seconded and unanimously approved to adjourn the meeting at 8:20 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
Susan M. Torre
Secretary
