Executive Board Meeting
June 2, 2009

A meeting of the Stony Creek Association Executive Board was called to order by President- Dan Bullard at Willoughby Wallace Memorial Library at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2009.

SPECIAL MEETING
Tuesday, June 2, 2009
Business: Nominations for officers and Members of the Executive Board of the SCA for the coming year. Maura Page read the list of nominees. There were no nominations from the floor. A motion was made to accept the list of nominees / seconded and unanimously approved. This meeting was closed at 7:33.

REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING began at 7:33.

Minutes: A motion was made/seconded and unanimously approved to accept the minutes of the May 5, 2009 meeting with the following correction: spelling of the name Brendan Page.

Tax Collector: All taxes have been paid.

Legal and Zoning: Marvin Zimmerman went over the criteria for placement of memorials or monuments on public lands or structures in Stony Creek. A motion was made/seconded and unanimously approved to accept the criteria.
(15) Long Point Rd. Variance to tear down existing house and rebuild in a slightly different configuration.

Police and Traffic: No report from the committee.
Meeting on June 9th with the Police Dept.
Could the traffic motoring unit be moved to another location?

Maintenance:
Granite benches are installed and were purchased through a Grant.
Fountains have been turned on. Bayview Park and Lewis Memorial Traingle.
The beach has been raked.
The picnic table has been removed and a new one will replace it.
The tree at the beach is not in good shape. Should a new one be planted?
Port a Potties needed to be cleaned.
A motion was made/seconded and unanimously approved to replace the light at the Summer House and install it in another location. Cost would be about $250.00.
Sidewalks along beach side need to be replaced. They would be higher than the road.
Sidewalks on lower Thimble Islands Road need to be replaced.
Zoning enforcement officer reviewed the Train Yard. Many boats have been left. They were tagged to be removed.
Sandy has asked to continue doing the planting of the flowers and to follow-up with the park benches.
The fountain bowl at the Lewis Memorial Triangle is damaged and needs to be repaired. A motion was made/seconded and unanimously approved to repair the fountain.
Rextile Road residents asked to have the town finish the curbing near the resident’s home.
At the Lewis Memorial Triangle the Dog Fountain is not working.
Port a Potties need at least one wheel chair accessible.
A motion was made/seconded and unanimously approved to hire Paul Blackstone to cut down the weeds around the sign “Children of all ages playing”.

Aministration: Kathy DaRos reserved the room at the WWL for the SCA election.
160 E-mails are now registered.

Old Business: The Stony Creek Post Office is looking to reduce service hours. The lease has not been finalized to date. No action to shut down SC PO from Senator Dodd’s office.
Contact could be made to Rosa DeLauro, Pat Widlitz, Richard Blumenthal, and KiKi Kennedy.

New Business: 1. DEP is going to make a space for the launching of Kayaks near the Trolly Bridge. A group has been formed and names are being collected for a petition to have a public hearing on this.
2. The Puppet House is being considered for a not for profit Community Theater.
3. A letter was read from the Stach Family concerning the re-opening of the Puppet House and the concerns of the past.

A motion was made/seconded and unanimously approved to adjourn the meeting at 8:55 P.M.
