Legal & Zoning: No new requests for variances.

Maintenance: John reported that he has been working with AT&T, SNET CL&P on underground wiring along Indian Point Road and it looks like there is money at the town level for installation of conduits. They should go in ASAP and then settle until fall. Dock: no activity – carpenters have been on strike, but still hoping for completion by Memorial Day. Sandra reported that the street signs (and poles) were ordered and expected momentarily. Lewis Memorial triangle was dug out and the roots of the tree may soon cause a problem lifting the sidewalks. Sandra will seek advise from Robert Ungemack. Lifting the curbing at Madeira Park is part of an overall plan Masotta has and it may be done in conjunction with the ditching and dock area project and/or repaving of the area. John will check with Masotta about the yellow line (and side lines) needing to be painted on the repaved section of Leetes Island Road where there are also no lights. From Peg Hall -- new contract was signed and trash is to be picked up on weekends [by Cameron Construction] and also on trash days by National – please call Peg Hall or National if trash is not picked up. Alex Paluzzi will fix benches in Madeira Park, is aware that the beach needs sand, and will drop mulch on the north side of beach gazebo. The village will be checked for overhanging vegetation this month and a list made of problem areas.

Police and Traffic: John reported that the police commissioners have not responded to our letter requesting a crosswalk at Thimble Islands Road and south side of Sachem Road and approval for the installation of road-center safety bollards at each end of the village. John passed around a flyer from the Volsunga requesting that school busses discharge students at the Memorial Triangle near the library crosswalk, park at firehouse, and return to triangle for pickup.

Administration: Nina reported that the moderator has been engaged for the SCA election. Sandra reported that the nominating committee has almost competed their work. Sandra will give a copy of last year's bios to new nominees and ask that they submit one of 80-90 words to Nina [ninacreek@aol.com.] Board members need to make any necessary changes to theirs and give them to Nina pronto. June 17th was the date set for the Special Meeting and it is noted on the WWML calendar.

Old Business: None.

New Business: A motion was made, seconded and approved to send a donation to the Church of Christ of $200 in appreciation for the use of their facilities while the library was being renovated. Peter will write a letter thanking Nick Fischer for his work digging out and replacing the dirt at the Lewis Memorial Triangle. Marvin presented to the board a request from the library asking the SCA to contribute to their new bulletin board, which we use for our postings, as mandated by our by-laws. An architectural rendering was passed around. After much discussion, a motion was made and seconded to approve $1250 toward the purchase of the new bulletin board. A motion was made, seconded and carried (5 for, 3 opposed) to amend the amount to $1500. The amended motion to approve $1500 toward the purchase of the new bulletin board for the Willoughby Wallace Memorial Library carried unanimously.

A motion was made/seconded and unanimously approved to adjourn the meeting at 9:00 pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Nina N. Smith

Secretary
