Sea Mist |
Join Captain Mike Infantino and the crew of the Sea Mist as you tour the famous Thimble Islands off the coast of Branford, Connecticut. Welcome aboard the Sea Mist. Relax and enjoy your charter as we cruise around 25 inhabited islands. The Thimbles were first discovered in 1614 by Adrian Block, who discovered Block Island. These unique islands were used for everything from farming to quarrying its famouse pinnk granite, and bootlegging to hiding Captain Kidd's treasure. Captain Kidd sailed here in 1665... you can still feel his presence today. The Sea Mist is a 44' Carman Boat of Chesapeake Design. This vessel was designed with large windows and comfortable seating for sightseeing and private cruises to enjoy cocktails or dinner with friends and family. There are two observation decks. Volsunga IV |
Board the Volsunga IV on a tour through the enchanted Thimgle Island and take a voyage back in time. Located just off the shoreline town of Stony Creek, CT, the "Thimbles" have often been described as "a piece of the Maine coast that drifted into Long Island Sound and came to rest at Stony Creek." A summer tradition since the 1950s, the Volsunga has been charrying on a heritage of excursion vessels that plied these waters during the "golden age" of the Victorian Era. Captain Bob Milne has been operating the business since 1987 and welcomes you aboard to experience an educational and fun-filled Thimble Islands Cruise. Maneuvering just feet away from dangerous reefs and beautiful islands the boat ride takes you for an up close and personal view of the "Thimbles" natural beauty. Twenty-three of the islands are large enough to be inhabited. They range in size of less than half an acre of sea weed, spartina and pink granite, to 12 lushly covered acres of coastal hardwoods and scrub pine, making the islands appear deceivingly tropical in nature. Approximately 85 homes, built mostly during the Victorian Era, complete with window walks, gingerbread trimmings, and genttel gazebos decorate the stony islets.
